Joenos Wineguard Sulfur Powder KDS, 10 g

Joenos Wineguard is a sulfur powder for stabilizing wine. It combines potassium disulfite (KDS) with ascorbic acid and protects the wine from oxidation, i.e. from color and aroma spoiling through exposure to airborne oxygen.

The powder contains around 50 % active sulfur dioxide (SO2). Sulfur binds free oxygen and inhibits unwanted microorganisms so the flavor stays stable throughout storage. The ascorbic acid boosts the protection against oxidation.

Typical points of use are racking and bottling. How many grams you need per liter is stated in the package instructions. Overdosed sulfur can be tasted in the wine, so work precisely here.
