Geko ONEWE preservative E 224 for wine and fruit juice, 20 g sachet

ONEWE by Geko is a classic sulphiting agent for preserving wine and fruit juice. It consists of potassium disulfite (preservative E 224): together with the acids in juice and wine it forms sulphurous acid, which kills germs and keeps the batch stable. As the gas evaporates, the vessels must stay closed during treatment.

ONEWE is used above all for light wines that are to be stored longer, and for preserving fruit juices that will later be made into wine. Red fruit juices fade slightly.

Use as stated on the pack: add 1 g ONEWE to 5 litres of wine or fruit juice, then bottle and cork. Proceed the same way with wines that smell off (reductive notes). If the fruit is not perfectly sound or fruit mash is kept in hot weather, a light initial sulphiting with 1 g per 10 litres is recommended. One sachet is therefore enough for up to 100 litres. Legal maximum levels of sulphur dioxide apply to wine.
